Description: Uses: Los frutos son forraje para pajaros, murciélagos y demás mamiferos, incluyendo al hombre; ornamental y en medicina se considera que es antiespasmódico, antitusivo, y para tratar amenorreas, afecciones broncopleurales, diarrea, disentería, neuralgias, sarampión, manifestaciones cutáneas, viruela, clarificar la vista [Del Amo, 1979]; melífera (néctar y polen) (Arellano et al. 2003:240). Common Names: Capulín, chapulin, capulincillo (Arellano et al. 2003:239). Bisilana (Oax), cacanicua (Tab, Mich), capolin (Chis, Tab), capulin, capulin de mayo (Ver), carecillo, guinda (SLP), huizlan, la-in-no (Chontal, Oax), ma-lau (Chinanteco, Oax), mahun (Chinanteco, Oax), nigua (Ver), palman (Pue), pua (SLP), puan (Huasteco, SLP), pus (SLP), puyan (Totonaca, Ver), [Martinez, 1979] (Arellano et al. 2003:239).
