En medicina para tratar el cáncer renal; diabetes, diurético es infusión hervida; para tratar la gonorrea [Osado R., 1834]; incordios y apostemas [Anon, 1949]; retención de orina, piedras y arenillas, vejiga y riñones [Osado R., 1834]; mordedura de serpiente, para tratar con el jugo de sus hojas las heridas y llagas [Anon 1949]; mal espasmódico [Martinez, 1969; Osada R., 1834]; fibra textil, melífera (néctar) (Arellano et al. 2003:12). Fiber for hammocks and cord (Atran 1993:645). Common Names: Kij, henequen (Anderson et al. 2003:31, 311).
