Description: Uses: Boiled for an antiseptic wash on granos, wounds, and bites, for fever, and for mal ojo; drunk as tea for stomach ache and diarrhea; bitter juice is put on nursing women's breasts to wean babies (Anderson et al. 2003:107). Analgésico [Del Amo, 1979, Martinez, 1969]; antiinflamatorio, antiperiódico, antipirético, antitusivo, bilis, aljorra [Del Amo, 1979]; comezón, emenagogo, lepra, tiña [Standley, 1930]; dolor de estómago [Del Amo, 1979, Standley, 1930]; granos, heridas, insecticida para aves de corral, caída del pelo, salpullido [Del Amo, 1979]; sarna [Standley, 1930, Andrews, 1979]; enfermedades de la piel (Andrews, 1979); la flor como forraje para aves y melífera (néctar y polen) (Arellano et al. 2003:137-138). Medicinal, fumatory (Balick et al. 2000:152). Tie whole plant around waist for exhaustion (Comerford 1990:332). Common Names: Jaway; altanisa (Anderson et al. 2003:107, 301).
