Description: Uses: Dried leaves used in cooking for flavoring. Tea used for vomiting and diarrhea. With insect sawdust (frass), boiled, makes a plaster for old wounds that won't heal (Anderson et al. 2003:190). En medicina como antidiarreico, antipirético, balsámico, catarro, cólera marbus, estimulante, expectorante, tónico [Standley, 1930, Souza N., 1942]; para enfermedades filiales; condimento; melífera (nectar) (Arellano et al. 2003:598). Medicine, spice (Balick et al. 2000:132). Common names: Orégano (Anderson et al. 2003:190). Ak'ilche', orégano, té del pais, axak'ilche', xaak'che' [Barrera, 1976]; Abulyac-xihuitl (Azteca), amante (Huasteco, SLP), hierba dulce, neuctexhuitl [Martinez, 1979]; orégano de tierra [Souza N., 1942]; romerillo de monte (Oax), té del pais [Martinez, 1979] (Arellano et al. 2003:598). Oregano, Spanish thyme (Balick et al. 2000:132).
