Description: Uses: Medicinal contra el salpullido; se prepara 30 granos en infusión con 5 litros de agua y se baña (voucher). Leaves put on elotes in pib for flavor; leaves soaked in water (not boiled) and then squeezed, drunk, for dysentery; boiled and tea used as a wash for sweating and body odor (Anderson et al. 2003:202). Melífera (nectar y polen); tóxica y potencialmente ornamental (Arellano et al. 2003:593). Used to cure diarrhea and vomiting (Kunow 2003:114). Common names: Sak p'ukin (voucher). Nej maax (general term for plants with monkey-tail-like parts), puuk'in (Anderson et al. 2003:310). Pukieb, pukin, puk' in, sak puk in, xnuuk, mulicion cho, x-mulicion cho, x-mulision cho, x-nulision kaax, sakpuk'mi, xpuk'im [Barrera, 1976] (Arellano et al. 2003:593). X pukim (Kunow 2003:114). Zac-puc-yim, zac-pucim (Roys 1931:319).
