Description: Uses: Tea of the root (mashed and infused) used as a kidney medicine; action apparently diuretic; believed to cure kidney problems, including kidney stones, and even diabetes. One of the most commonly used and widely known medicines in Chunhuhub (Anderson et al. 2003:141). Medicinal; raíz para tratar cálculos hepaticos y renales; como emoliente, pelagra; para gonorrea y leucorrea; diabetes; es maderable (Arellano et al. 2003:32). Medicine, construction, food, miscellaneous products (Balick et al. 2000:42). Common names: Elemuuy, box elemuuy (Anderson et al. 2003:141, 300). Eek'le' muuy, e'ele'muuy boox [Martinez 1979]. Box e'ele' muuy, eek'le' muuy, pool boox [Barrera 1976] (Arellano et al. 2003:32). Che-che, chief of herbs, elemuil, eremuel, eremuil, itz-imul, lancewood, mahana, sufrekaya, wild coffee, wild soursop (Balick et al. 2000:42).
