When planted in front of house protects from mal aire and mal vientos (Anderson et al. 2003:243, 282). Forage (Balick et al. 2000:195). Common names: Yat, yaat, xyaat, xyatil (general and very commonly used name for small palms of the genus Chamaedorea), (Anderson et al. 2003:243). Xat-macho, xate-macho (Balick et al. 2000:195). Image Notes: Fruit: 1.4-1.6 cm elongated oblong to semi-lunate drupe-like fruit. Black papery epidermal layer, semi-reticulate when desiccated.
