Description: Uses: En medicina como antiinflamatorio, estimulante [Standley, 1930]; antipirético, asma, convulsiones, inflamación de intestine, enfermedad de nervios [Roys, 1931]; y para tratar apoplejia, canes, dentífrico, afirmar encías, gota [Martinez, 1969]; insecticida, picadura de insecta, remover garrapatas [Standley, 1930, Andrews, 1979]; paràlisis de la lengua, dolor de dientes y de reumas, sialogogo, sordera catarrah, veneno [Martinez, 1969]; tóxica, cancerígeno, en la materia prima para cigarros y puros; ornamental, [BADEPY] (Arellano et al. 2003:562). Apply oil to leaf and place on forehead to relieve colds and sinus problems (Arnason et al. 1980:350). Smoked, rubbed on clothing to ward off snakes, mixed with water as a treatment for ticks and colmoyote worm (Atran 1993:Table 1). Medicine, miscellaneous products, fumatory, poison (Balick et al. 2000:125). Common names: Tobacco (voucher).
