Identification notes: G. Wilhelm, Lichens of the Chicago Region: ... (1995); ; This species has spores which are 2-septate, 8-10ยต long, with the 2 end cells each larger than the central one. The thallus is white, superficial, almost granular; the apothecia are round, prevailingly pruinose, and resemble in the main my description for the species called A. polymorpha. - G. Wilhelm 1994
